Ekaterina Bobrova criticized Kostornaia and Kunitsa’s free skating program.
“Who boned me there for criticizing their free skating program? Yes, you can say that the cascade didn’t work out, they threw the skating somewhere and so on, but in the pair you can’t throw steps out of the program, you can’t throw hands out. There’s no program there. I looked under a microscope, there’s no “Hunger Games” there at all. You can put on any music you want and check it out.
Maybe not very good rentals contributed to this, they got upset and stopped doing anything emotionally. But, again, you can’t take steps out of the program. You can’t redo the production. It’s not single skating. There’s a certain problem in the production. Hopefully, they will adjust it, fix it,” Bobrova said in the podcast “Skate Walk”.
She also spoke out about Kostornaya’s criticism of the judges.
“Alyona said: “I’m not waiting for loyalty, but for justice. About all components I do not know, but there is skating skill. Never in my life will I believe that I skate worse than other female athletes.” She further added: “Yes, the work in a pair is evaluated, but Gosha skates as well as other boys.”
There can’t be “I” in any version here now. Everyone, you are a couple, one whole, and you must support each other. Now there is no “I” anymore – neither in jumps, nor in parallel elements. It’s a couple, and it’s very important to realize it now at this stage.
And next time, when athletes will be upset about their scores, they should say: “I think that WE skate not worse”, it will be a guarantee of some success and further movement to progress in the pair. But as long as it’s like this: ‘I skate not worse, but Gosha does too’, nothing will come out of it,” added the Olympic champion in the team.
