Alexander Selevko: “When I saw that I scored 90 points, it was just a shock
Alexander Selevko assessed the short program at the European Championships.
Selevko scored 90.5 points and is in third place.
“I’m incredibly happy, I finally managed to skate the way I know how. The most surprising thing is that I was nervous before the skating exactly the same as usual. And I got the best result of my career. I guess I was just able to reach the peak of my form.
When I saw that I scored 90 points, it was just a shock, I can’t put it in other words. I didn’t expect such scores, although I realized that I was theoretically capable of it. But it turned out to be practically possible.
I can’t say that the preparation for the tournament was uneventful – I had problems with my leg. Before the national championship I gave up the touloupe, it was difficult to jump it. Then I gave up the lutz as well – I was too worried about the injury. But I’m going to do both jumps in the free skate.
I hope that on Friday I will also be able to perform cleanly – this is the main task for me now. I just need to cope with my nerves. It’s very important for me to return to the European Championships, I haven’t been able to qualify here for several years,” Selevko said.
