Yuma Kagiyama commented on his victory at the Four Continents Championships.

Today the Japanese figure skater won the tournament in Shanghai, scoring 307.58 points for the sum of programs.

“I am very happy with my performance today. I didn’t expect to score 200 points [for the free skating] – I thought it would be about 190-198, so I’m pleasantly surprised. And I’m glad I got over 300 overall.

I missed a few big competitions last year because of injuries, so I focused on improving my technique. I had time to think about my performances.

At this tournament, I successfully performed three different quadruple jumps. This performance motivates me to strive for even better results and technical mastery in the upcoming seasons.

But I don’t know if I will be able to win the next championship with 300 points. I realize how important it is to constantly improve my technical skills,” said two-time Olympic medalist Kagiyama.
