Tatyana Tarasova about Davis and Smolkin: “Who are they? What place did they take at the World Championships, 12th?

Tarasova said she does not see anything outstanding in Davis and Smolkin so far.
Former Russian national team skaters Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin, now competing for Georgia in ice dancing, have reportedly transferred to Montreal’s academy.

“Who are they? What place at the World Championships did they place, 12th? We don’t know about the eighth, ninth and tenth places, what am I going to tell you about the twelfth place.

Such pairs go wherever they want, no one is interested in them, they go for better results. They (Davis and Smolkin) move every year, if they get better results, we will only be happy,” TASS quoted coach Tatiana Tarasova as saying.

“Even though they finished 12th at the World Championships, I liked their performance. Let’s see if they can improve in Montreal. We’ll wait and see. While they are still quite young, we still have a long way to go to see how they develop. But in general, I have seen many great pairs, and in comparison with them I don’t see anything outstanding in Davis and Smolkin,” R-Sport quoted Tarasova as saying.
