Madison Chock and Evan Bates rated their performance in the rhythm dance at the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships.
Chock: Tonight was our best rhythm dance performance of the season, we were excited to get back into the 80’s vibe. The makeup, the hair, the music – it was a great time.
We had a lot of help from the audience, it was a very warm welcome. We’ve lived in Montreal for the past five years, it’s become our second home. But amazingly, it’s my first time in this arena, with us living in a hotel and taking the competition shuttle to the rink – so it totally feels like we flew somewhere for the World Championships.
Bates: We’ve been looking forward to the World Championships in Montreal for so long – ever since the pandemic. There are so many friends and family in the audience. We came out today to enjoy ourselves, we wanted to entertain the crowd, and I think we succeeded. But I think the biggest victory is that after eleven World Championships together with Madison, we still love what we do. We don’t get bored, we still have the same excitement and drive.
Chock: We don’t make distant plans. We don’t think about the Olympics or next season – tomorrow at the most. From the main events in the future – our wedding in June. I’ve already chosen a dress, so after the World Championships we’ll prepare for the wedding.
