“After I cut my hand with a skate, I only remember lying on Eteri Tutberidze’s lap. And I’m afraid to look at the wound, and she is afraid. It all happened out of nowhere. I only remember that there was a lot of blood. But a week later I ran to the ice anyway, I was so bored in the hospital that I couldn’t stand it anymore.

I skated with a cast on my elbow, only my fingers were left outside, the guys tied my skates before training. But it got better and better every time. It was uncomfortable because of the stitches – they pulled, then for some reason did not dissolve, I removed them myself, trimming them with manicure scissors. But after two weeks I tied my own skates – I remember going to the ice and sharing with Sergey Viktorovich Dudakov: “I tied my own skates. And it was already a victory for me,” TASS quoted Khromykh as saying.

Maya Khromykh then shared her motivation for her participation in the Moscow Championships, where she took 7th place.

“I decided to participate in the Moscow Championships to gain that experience again. I looked at the calendar, discussed it with the coaches, and they said this: ‘If you want to, perform.’

Now I can’t remember when I took part in this start before, so it was unusual. I remembered how I had once competed on the same rink ‘Mechta’ at the Russian Championship with other girls.

Mandrage, inexplicable excitement were present, even in training, but I fight it and realize that I can do anything.

For me the main joy in my life is pure skating, nothing else gives me such emotions. But I’ve grown up, and I have to deal with it.

I didn’t even go on vacation to prepare for the pre-season training camp in Novogorsk. Yes, I wanted to go away, to switch, but training is more important to me – I fall asleep with thoughts about skating and wake up with them,” Khromykh said.
