“I try to compare myself to myself in past competitions and not to other competitors. I finally managed to get a 40 for technique! Of course, we’ve been perfecting this short program. I’ve been skating it for two seasons now, and I’ve done it.

Did skipping the jumping championship give you more time to prepare?

After the First Channel Junior Cup I was preparing hard for the jumping tournament, jumping cascades. I would really like to participate there again, but unfortunately, it turned out that I couldn’t be there. I even had to suspend training for a short period of time. But I guess that played to my advantage. Of course, I was in slightly better shape, and it knocked me down a bit – but maybe I would have burned out. So whatever is done is for the best. Of course, I’m a little worried now too, but I try not to think about it. Only my coaching staff and my family know about all the difficulties I went through.

How did you prepare for the championship? Of course, this is the most important start of the season. The most important thing is not to worry, because excitement only gets in the way. You just need to turn off your head and let your body do its thing – it knows everything.

Goal for the championship? To do the maximum that I had time to prepare. I wanted to complicate the content in terms of quadruple jumps, but I guess something went wrong. I will skate what I skated,” said Dvoeglazova
