This is stated in the motivation part of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

In the period from December 30 to January 10, the laboratory was closed. On January 11, the staff found trimetazidine in Valiyeva’s sample, but the next day continued the test. On January 17, the Stockholm laboratory rejected the results of the test, recognizing them as “not compliant with the quality system.” According to the Stockholm laboratory, this happened “due to poor chromatographic results”. On January 19, the lab again rejected the validated result.

Between January 31 and February 3, the lab prepared a new method “ultra-high performance liquid chromatography – high-resolution mass”, after which testing of Valieva’s sample continued. The testing continued until February 7. Then the figure skater received information about a positive doping sample.
