Ilia Malinin set a new world record for the basic cost of elements.
Winning the Grand Prix Final in Beijing, Malinin received a total score of 207.76 for the free skating program (121.49 for the technical part), with a base element value of 108.09.
His performance included quadruple lutz, rittberger, salchow, as well as quadruple lutz – oyler – triple salchow and quadruple tulup – triple tulup cascades, as well as triple lutz – triple axel sequences. However, with the quadruple axel, Malinin was unable to keep his balance.
His previous baseline record, set at the 2023 World Championships, was 106.66.
