The main figure skater of the USA Isabeau Levito tried on the image of a snake. And it’s not just music or a story in the program: the dress has a full-length snake on it, and the head was made from an arm.

The international Grand Prix series kicks off this week with Skate America in Allen, USA. The women’s entry includes last season’s leaders, Belgium’s Luna Hendricks and Isabeau Levito, a 16-year-old star from the United States.

Levito trains with the Russian school group of Yulia and Vyacheslav Kuznetsov. Last season she took silver in two rounds and the Grand Prix Final, and finished 4th at the World Championships in Saitama.

Isabeau enters this season as a favorite – she has already won the Nebelhorn Trophy Challenger and team silver at the Japan Open. And then there are the unusual programs, especially the short program.

In the production by Yulia Kuznetsova, Levito appears as a snake. And while in Kamila Valieva’s Bolero the snake was more of a metaphor, and in Madison Chock’s Bolero it was the basis of the choreography, in Isabeau’s the reading is literal.

Of course, the dress immediately catches the eye. The main color is beige. It is obvious that it was taken consciously – and not even to create the effect of a naked body (it is hardly appropriate for a teenage figure skater), but to accentuate the main character of the program – a snake. It is also on the dress. It was highlighted with rhinestones and color – it seems to be wrapped around Isabeau’s body.

On the right hand they depicted the head: the index and middle fingers imitate the tongue, on the knuckles – two green eyes. It turned out a bit cartoonish – here Levito herself is important not to overdo it with the playback of the snake-hand and not to turn the production into a puppet show.
In social networks not everyone appreciated the dress – some fans admired the unusual outfit, but many did not like it. The figure skater herself is satisfied with everything – she posts photos and after the premiere at the Nebelhorn Trophy. We will find out whether the outfit will be changed at the first stage of the Grand Prix.

Isabeau’s snake is not only a dress. The figure skater on the ice repeats the smooth movements of the reptile.

It crawls across the ice, wriggles in the air. The choreography of the hands is emphasized on the right hand – it seems to lead Levito behind her. And several times the snake addresses the judges.

For musical accompaniment they chose oriental motifs, which in this case is justified and, perhaps, predictable: the track Yearning performed by Raul Ferrando.
Isabeau was so entranced by the program that she “thanked” the snake after the ride in Oberstdorf – she patted its “head” encouragingly.
In the kiss-and-run, she showed the snake’s tongue, putting out two fingers.
