Yuko Kawaguchi said she does not believe in doping violation by Kamila Valieva.
Figure skater Valieva gave a positive doping sample in December 2021. The hearing in the case will continue on November 9-10 at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“Kamila Valieva and I did the show after she was accused of doping. She is a very bright, good and nice girl. A very talented figure skater. I can’t compare her to anyone else.
I like her very much, it’s nice to look at her. We didn’t communicate with her much, we were just in the same locker room.
As for the doping story, everything is possible in this life, but in the situation with Valieva it’s probably not true,” said Yuko Kawaguchi, a two-time European champion in pairs skating who played for Japan, the United States and Russia during her career.
