WADA used in its evidence Tutberidze’s 2019 interview where she talked about Meldonium
WADA used Tutberidze’s interview with Russian journalist Vladimir Pozner in its evidence.
This is stated in the motivation part of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport on the case of violation of anti-doping rules by Kamila Valieva.
Eteri Tutberidze gave an interview to Vladimir Pozner in April 2019.
“In an interview in 2019, Ms. Tutberidze confirmed that meldonium was provided to Russian athletes to improve recovery and support heart muscle and that after meldonium was banned by WADA in 2016, “we had to look for something new”.
Trimetazidine and meldonium have similar properties,” the document said.
