USADA Director General called the decision on Valieva’s 4-year disqualification correct.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified the figure skater for 4 years, starting from December 25, 2021 – the day she tested positive for trimetazidine. She has been stripped of all awards since that date.

“This is the right outcome and we hope that clean athletes competing in the Olympic Games can finally experience joy and fulfillment after a long wait for justice.

At the same time, our hearts ache for another Russian athlete who was let down by the system, and that is a young 15-year-old girl. The system must get better,” said Travis Tygert, CEO of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
