Lawyer on Valieva’s case: two-month judgment is very fast for CAS
Sports lawyer Anna Antseliovich said that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling on the case of Kamila Valieva within two months shows the organization’s desire not to drag out the process any longer.
On Friday, Nov. 10, the CAS concluded hearings in Valieva’s case and will issue a ruling in January 2024.
“I think it’s true that the decision will be in January, I understand that they want to deliver the decision before the next anniversary of the Olympics, which was in 2022. Making a ruling in two months is very fast for CAS. I think the arbitrators are under pressure from the public, federations, athletes that the case is dragging on for a long time. Everyone is waiting for a decision on the fate of Olympic gold, a large number of parties are interested, so, I think, CAS does not want to further delay this case,” said Antseliovich.
