Kaori Sakamoto has won three consecutive World Championships for the first time in 56 years.
Kaori Sakamoto, won the World Figure Skating Championships 2024 in Montreal, Canada. She became the first athlete in 56 years to win three consecutive world championships.
Sakamoto first became world champion in 2022, last season she defended the title, and this season she again became the best at the world championships, beating her nearest rival by more than 10 points on the sum of two programs.
The last time such an achievement was achieved was by American Peggy Fleming, who won three World Championships in a row between 1966 and 1968.
