Uno finished second in the short program today with a score of 106.02 points, behind American Ilya Malinin who scored 106.90.

“We discussed the performance with my coach, Stefan Lambiel, and decided that overall it was an okay performance. Of course, not all the elements turned out as I would have liked and I’m not happy with the execution levels of some of them. But that’s the past.

I’m happy with the fact that today I did well on the paths and spins – I’ll try to keep that in my head. I was much more nervous today than at the stage in Japan, although my jumps were more successful there. Still, today’s result is my best this season, which is amazing.

Stephane Lambiel gave me a lot of support after the stage in Japan. He was also disappointed with the results, but he supported me, saying that I tried hard in training and in my performances. Today he is really satisfied and that makes me really happy.

I can say that it is not easy to repeat the steps that Lambiel sets. But I try not to disappoint him,” Shoma Uno shared his thoughts.
