Isabeau Levito: “I was very afraid that I would repeat the situation like at the World Championships, when one mistake ruined my chances”

American figure skater Isabeau Levito commented on her victory at the French Grand Prix.
“Very strong emotions. When I was waiting for the evaluations, I was just praying and whispering ‘please, please, dear judges, I can do this spin perfectly, honestly, honestly’.”
I knew that I had five points after the short program, I saw that my competitors did not do everything well today, but my skating today was far from perfect, so I was very nervous.
First, two mistakes on jumps, and at the end I made a stupid mistake on rotation. I was sitting on the ice after the end of the program and I thought: “That’s it, this must have cost me gold. Let’s just say that I added drama to the end of the program – where it wasn’t really planned.
So I’m just happy I won. I was really afraid that I would repeat the situation like at the World Championships, when I ruined my chances with one mistake,” Levito said.
