Anastasia Gubanova: “I don’t know why they don’t give me very high scores. But the main thing for me is that I skated great”
Anastasia Gubanova assessed her short program at the French Grand Prix.
“Today I am very happy with the way I skated. I did absolutely everything – both technically and emotionally. I had a lot of fun, I can definitely say that I gave a hundred percent. So far this is the best skating of the season, and I will be guided by it.
Do I notice that the scores are not very high? Of course, I don’t know why. I seem to be trying and doing my best. But the main thing for me is that I skated well.
Evgeny Rukavitsyn came here with me, and of course it means a lot to me. You go out on the ice in a completely different way. A coach is a very close person, you see him even more often than your parents. That’s why, of course, you are a little more nervous – you don’t want to let him down.
Are you surprised with the second place? These are very pleasant emotions. I really wanted to finish clean – and this is probably my main goal for the season. I also want to enjoy what I’m doing.
My plans for the season are to roll out the whole season cleanly. And to please myself and the coaches and the public. And get high on what I’m doing.
The music was suggested by the coach and the choreographer. I liked it right away. The composition is interesting, never heard on the ice (Mojo performed by Claire Laffut). I worked with a professional dancer a lot in the gym – and then only transferred to the ice. Training was very fun,” Gubanova said.
