RUSADA ruled that there was no evidence from Kamila Valieva that her grandfather, Gennady Soloviev, who the defense says cooked the contaminated dessert for her, even existed.

CAS ruled that there was no evidence that Kamila Valieva’s alleged grandfather (in fact, the father of the figure skater’s “mother’s former partner”) used trimetazidine before December 2021, when the positive doping sample was given.

In addition:

– Only two medical records confirm some sort of connection between the grandfather and trimetazidine – they are dated March and December 2022, well after the date of the positive doping sample. CAS found that they had no probative value.

– Valieva’s grandfather refused a medical examination that could have confirmed that he had a heart problem.

– On February 8, 2022, Kamila’s grandfather said he took trimetazidine by swallowing the pills whole. In subsequent testimony, he already claimed that he broke the pills because he could not swallow them.
