Evgeny Plushenko called the proposals in the ISU to simplify the programs “sheer nonsense”.

Earlier, TASS reported that the International Skating Union (ISU) technical committee is discussing ideas to simplify the rules, including reducing the mandatory jumps in single skating from seven to six, as well as the possibility of repeating one jump three times.

“It’s probably within the discussion now, if they want to propose that, I don’t think it’s right.

We have already started to roll less time for the free skating program, although earlier we discussed to bring it from 4 minutes 40 seconds, on the contrary, to 5 minutes, it would be great to add 20 seconds, because after all went four and a half turns axels, quadruple jumps, combinations “four – four”, many athletes, especially Russian, part of the international, for example, Ilya Malinin, move figure skating forward.

We need to add a time period for the athletes to exhale somewhere, for there to be rastants, a choreographic component, if we take figure skating of the past, there was still more of a presentation of the image, today it is a minimal history in terms of presentation.

To repeat the same jump three times, it seems to me, is pointless. Somebody owns one jump, for example, a quadruple lutz, which is the most difficult element according to figure skating criteria, the highest in terms of points, but does not own a quadruple tulup, he will jump quadruple lutzes three times in a row, after all, this is a multifaceted figure skating, and we have to jump different jumps.

It seems to me that this will not be accepted, again, to go to six elements – a nonsense, figure skating is first of all a sport, of course, it is art, ballet and theater, it is clear, but still it should remain a sport, “- said the coach and two-time Olympic champion in figure skating Evgeny Plushenko.
