Head of the Lithuanian Figure Skating Federation: “We told ISU at once – we know how to organize the World Cup 2024, just don’t interfere.
The head of the Lithuanian Figure Skating Federation spoke about the attitude to the ISU.
The European Figure Skating Championship-2024 was held in Lithuania.
“No, the state did not allocate any money to us. The municipality helped us – they paid the rent of the arena, which is a lot of money. But Kaunas knew that such a tournament would attract a lot of tourists to the city, and worked for the future. And we could only count on a rather limited ISU budget and on ticket sales.
Were we taking a risk? Of course, because it’s not basketball, which always draws a full house in Lithuania. But you know, he who doesn’t take risks doesn’t drink champagne – we finished the tournament with a profit.
We told (ISU) from the very beginning: we know how to organize everything, just don’t get in the way. All these official memorandums and regulations only make things worse, this dusty bureaucracy will lead to nothing.
Yes, we were brazen in some respects, but we are tired of being instructed all the time. We have a super-professional team, we know how to do such events. It’s strange: it seems that we grew up in the USSR, but I have never seen as much “Soviet” as I see in ISU,” Vytautas Jasutis said
