The exciting confrontation between the girls at the Grand Prix in Samara ended in complete success for Ksenia Sinitsina. Boldly returning to the arena after a leg injury, she defeated all her rivals, including Eteri Tutberidze’s pupils Maya Khromykh and Daria Sadkova.

Maya’s performance in the free skating program was extremely weak, with the lowest marks in her adult career, even worse than in the junior period. She failed to get a podium place, remaining only in fifth place.

Daria decided to risk a quadruple tulup, but this element did not help her to win gold for her Kristalny team. Thus, Ksenia Sinitsina put an end to the dominance of the singles women from Coach Tutberidze’s group.

Maya Khromykh’s performance to the soundtrack of the series “Keepers” was very emotional. Despite the problems in the short program, her fans were hoping for a recovery in the free program, but reality suggested that miracles will not happen overnight.

Maya has not yet reached the necessary form, which makes it difficult to perform several difficult elements, especially in the free program. In fact, her first element – a triple lutz in a cascade with a triple tulup – was unsuccessful and she fell on a triple rittberger. The scores for her performance were low – 116.01 points, and the total score of 182.70 points did not bode well. It seemed that the fight for medals was over for her.

Sinitsina deprived Tutberidze’s coaching staff of gold. The last hope for a medal for this coaching staff was Daria Sadkova. The 15-year-old rookie in the adult categories was less than a point behind Ksenia Sinitsina after the short program and had a good chance to win in the free skate. However, deciding to risk a quadruple tulup, she fell and was unable to catch up with her rival.

Although Daria was able to save part of the difficult program, she had some problems, including a fall from a triple flip. Nevertheless, her good performance in the free program earned her 137.38 points, and a total score of 210.71 points. But she never managed to win the gold medal.
Ksenia Sinitsyna, leading after the short program, knew that her performance in the free program would decide whether she would win today. Her flawless execution of all elements to the music of “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas” by Gaby Moreno ended the tournament in her favor. She received high scores – 142.31 points for her free skating and 216.08 points in total.
Xenia’s happiness was evident when she found out she had won gold. Daria Sadkova was left with silver and Ksenia Gushchina won bronze. They really showed their strength and unfolding struggle at this stage.

Figure skater Ksenia Sinitsyna commented on her victory at the Russian Grand Prix in Samara.
“It was not easy. Thanks to my coaches for continuing to work with me. There is no full realization, it’s a big surprise. I was ready, it was in my mind that I could win. But it’s been a long time since I’ve been on the podium, and to win a tournament is a big step forward in general.
I counted on my strength and realized that if I did my best, the judges would encourage me. And that’s how it turned out. It doesn’t bother me to listen to other people’s evaluations, I hear them and I want to do better. I also watch my classmates at training sessions to do better. On the contrary, it calms me down.
To be honest, it was important for me to get on the ice. I was preparing all summer, I wanted to show myself, and this unpleasantness (broken leg) at the test skating…. It was unpleasant inside. When I saw the lists, I didn’t pay much attention to how many people would be there and with what set. It was important for me to go out on the ice and enjoy myself,” Sinitsyna said.
