Piper Gilles was diagnosed with stage I ovarian cancer in winter
Canadian figure skater Piper Gilles was diagnosed with stage I ovarian cancer in winter.
The skater announced this on her social media account.
“The last six months have been something of a roller coaster! Tomorrow, on World Ovarian Cancer Day, I’ll share a little more of my story.
I am incredibly grateful for the people who have supported me along the way.
I’ve always tried to be as real as possible on social media and felt I needed to share it when the time came.
Life is full of ups and downs and all we can do is keep moving forward,” the athlete wrote.
In the winter, Gilles underwent surgery to remove her appendix. According to the skater, the intervention was related to her current diagnosis.
